How to make traditional British Scones

You’ll love this foolproof scone recipe because:

Ingredients needed

STEP 1 Sift dry ingredients into  a large bowl

STEP 2 Whisk wet ingredients  into a separate bowl

STEP 3 Rub the butter into the dry mix until it resembles breadcrumbs with some larger lumps

STEP 4 Add wet ingredients to dry and mix together to form a shagy dough

STEP 5 Turn out onto the work surface and bring it together with your hands. Pat into a disc

STEP 6 Cut out scone rounds with  a floured cookie cutter

STEP 7 Place on a baking tray and refrigerate for 30 minutes

STEP 8 Eggwash the top of each scone and bake at 180C for 15 minutes

Scones are ready when golden on top and soft and fluffy inside

Best served warm with cream then jam, or jam then cream ... you decide!!
